The project will enhance and reinforce international co-operation, facilitate closer integration with the EU research centres and familiarise end-users with updated research. The Centre will help to introduce new techniques, implement a modern approach to knowledge dissemination and supplement the management of the Institute. This should establish the reputation of PAGEN as a dynamic research and educational centre of agrobiology and molecular genetics.
The main objectives of the project will be achieved thanks to the following measures:
- the organisation of international and national conferences and workshops with experts from the leading EU research teams working in the area of agrobiology and molecular genetics;
- a series of lectures for young researchers and Ph.D. students given by the EU experts and top Polish scientists;
- networking with twin EU laboratories by senior scientists; short exchange visits in the EU and Poland and longer study-visits (one to three months) for young researchers in twin EU laboratories, aiming at the transfer of new molecular techniques to Poland and joint research experiments;
- the organisation of practical courses for young researchers and Ph.D. students, specialists and farmers;
- the organisation of panel discussions with the representatives of the Polish government and regional organisations responsible for the re-structuring and modernisation of Polish agriculture and its integration with the EU;
- the promotion of updated examples and models of modern and sustainable agriculture.
